DISCLAIMER
To our valued Plate-Sonics customers:
We here at Plate-Sonics are
first and foremost musicians. The love of music and recording is what
got us into the shop to build our first plate reverb. We were mystified in our search for complex, warm, analog reverberation indicative of our favorite recordings from the 60's and 70's. What we
came up with made our recording experience so enjoyable that
we thought we could share this experience with other musicians who
wanted to add the same analog life to their recordings. Therefore, Plate-Sonics would like everyone who views this
website to understand the following:
Plate-Sonics cannot control every variable
involved with a plate reverb. We can build them, make them work, and
tune them to sound great to our ears. We promise that when the plate leaves our
hands our welds are solid, the solder connections are good, and the driver/pickups work. Your plate will never arrive
D.O.A. unless it gets damaged in shipping, which is why we require
insurance on all shipments. This is our formula for good business
and personal attention to each plate we sell. We
cannot promise anything above and beyond what we publish. For
instance we do not guarantee a specific decay time for any plate. The
times listed are approximate and represent the longest we have been
able to achieve with a given size and are only there as a reference,
not an o-scope derived spec. The plate you buy may have a
shorter decay time than is posted and if you are looking for a
particular length of decay you would be well advised to contact us before placing your order. Also, although
we pre-tune the plate and test it before shipment, you will have to do some
adjustment and tweaking before using. This is not a digital rackmount piece of gear rather it is an instrument and unlike mathmatical algorhythms a plate reverb is a reactive
instrument that derives it's sound from what you put into it and how
you treat it. While it doesn't require tuning as often as a stringed
instrument, it will require maintenance with the season change like any
fine guitar, piano, or drum set. Also keep in mind most plate reverb users traditionally run their plate through a "signal chain" including EQ, compression, limiting, delay, and gate to get the most out of the plate and achieve their "sound". We also recommend this operation to get the most out of our plates.
